Top 4 Ritual Murder Cases Ghana Can Never Forget

This article would talk about some of the worst ritual murders that have happened in Ghana and how the police have helped. This article is to show that our country's security services are still doing a good job.

Elmina chieftaincy dispute and ritual murder

The Journal of African History says that a 10-year-old girl was killed on the beach at Akotobinsin near Elmina in Ghana's Central Region.

The person who was killed was named Ama Krakraba, and it happened on March 19, 1945, during World War II.
Ritualistic cuts had been made to her upper and lower lips, cheeks, eyes, and private parts, which were seen at the scene of the crime.

Later, it was found that her body parts were used to help the Regent's faction win a court case that was important for their political standing in Elmina.

Even though it seemed like the suspects in this murder case couldn't be caught, on March 24 of the same year, Kweku Ewusie, the Regent of Edina State, and four other people from Elmina, Joe Smith, Herbert Krakue, Nana Appram Esson, and Akodei Mensah, were charged with murder.


They were later found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to die by hanging.



The story of Kofi Kyinto and other ritual murders that happened in the 1980s

In the 1980s, a number of stories about ritual murders were at the top of the Ghanaian news. It started with the case of Kofi Kyinto, a man from Sefwi Bekwai whose uncle, Benjamin Affi, led him to his death. Other murders that happened in the 1980s include: In January 1981, the headless body of Kingsley Ackaah, also known as Kwame Kaya, a 15-year-old schoolboy from Baakrom near Sefwi Bekwai, was found.

In November 1981, the headless body of nine-year-old Kwasi Gyimah was found on the edge of Sefwi Bekwai.
In November 1984, the headless body of 65-year-old palm wine tapper Kwaku Nkrumah of Sefwi Bekwai was found in the bush.

Threats against Hunchbacks and the Bibiani killings

Between 2008 and 2009, ritual killers had nothing better to do than kill hunchbacks. There was a string of news about hunchbacks being killed and having their hunches cut off after they were dead.
Most of the people who were suspected of committing these crimes were caught and put on trial. This made a huge difference in how often these crimes happened.

The Curious Case Of Dr. Beckley

The case of Dr. Beckley, an occultist In 1994, Dr. Yoggi Ram Beckley, a mystic doctor, was arrested at his home in New Fadama because some schoolchildren had gone missing.

In his house in New Fadama, police found bloody skulls and other strange things. Dr. Beckley got off the hook, but in 2002, he was arrested again on charges that he had taken two children.

Parents used to hide their kids in their bedrooms because they were afraid Dr. Beckley would take them and use them in rituals.

Other parents had to go with their kids to and from school with clubs and weapons to protect them from Dr. Beckley.
