Tragic Fire Outbreak: Level 200 University Student, one other killed

Hon. Amos Gbokye Kokoti, the Assembly Member for Akanyakurom, a suburb of Bui in the Banda District of the Bono Region, has confirmed to Kumasi-based Angel FM that two individuals have died in a fire outbreak, leaving one in critical condition.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night around 8:30 pm, while the victims were asleep in their house. The two deceased individuals have been identified as 23-year-old Dorothy Amerinyo, a seamstress apprentice, and 24-year-old Frederick Jobo, a level 200 Electrical Engineering student at Sunyani Technical University.

The third victim, Margret, in her 20s, sustained severe burn injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. According to ADO Otu Abraham, the Fire Service Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Bui Power Authority, the fire was fueled by flammable materials stored in the kitchen where it broke out.

The investigation into the cause of the incident has commenced, and ADO Otu Abraham has confirmed the GNFS's commitment to carrying out a thorough investigation to prevent erroneous results. ADO Atu Abraham also stated that this is the first fire incident recorded in Akanyakurom.
