A Ghanaian woman living in Italy was killed when she returned home for a holiday.

Baafi, the 20-year-old neighbour of Maa Akos, allegedly killed her with a knife in her flat on the second floor of a two-storey building in Sepe Buokrom, near Kumasi.

According to reports, the person who allegedly killed her knew her and often visited her home.

Eyewitnesses say they saw Baafi jump out of a window in the victim's flat to escape from the scene.

A few weeks ago he allegedly tried to break into her flat.

A person who was there said he heard noise coming from Maa Akos' apartment and went in to check it out.

"I had to ask other people who lived there for help to get into the room. We could still hear them fighting. One of the tenants looked in the window and saw blood, so we had to work harder to get into the room. We went in and saw a pool of blood, but there was no body. "Later, we found her in the bathroom," said resident Hamidu Issah.

He also said: "One of the people living there saw the suspect jump out of the window. When he saw blood on his hands, he called for help.

The residents tried to catch Baafi and put him in jail for his crime, but he used a gun to scare some of them away.

He was later caught and handed over to the police.

The case is still under investigation.
