In 2018, Ghana and Morocco both received funding from FIFA to improve their soccer infrastructure. However, while Ghana used the funds to improve existing facilities and invest in the development of young players, Morocco used the funds to construct new, state-of-the-art soccer stadiums.
One of the most notable projects in Ghana was the renovation of the Accra Sports Stadium.
The stadium, which was built in 1952, received a major facelift that included the installation of new seats, an improved drainage system, and a new playing surface.

In addition to the renovations, the Ghana Football Association also used some of the funds to establish new training academies for young players across the country.
In contrast, Morocco focused on building new soccer stadiums. The country built four new stadiums for the 2018 World Cup, including the Grand Stade de Tanger, the Stade de Marrakech, the Stade de Casablanca, and the Stade de Rabat.
