Why Bawumia Is Not Fit To Be President – KNUST Lecturer

According to Dr Akwasi Amakye Boateng, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia lacks the necessary competencies and knowledge to lead Ghana as president. The absence of established political traditions within the NPP has resulted in his prominence as a contender.

Nonetheless, Bawumia's return to his hometown and indications of his intention to run for the NPP flagbearership signal a forthcoming announcement of his candidacy. The race for the flagbearership position is expected to include several other notable figures within the party.

In an interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM, Dr Akwasi Amakye Boateng, a senior lecturer at the Department of History and Political Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, expressed his opinion that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia lacks the necessary knowledge and competence to lead Ghana as its president.

Dr Amakye Boateng further explained that Dr Bawumia's emergence as a leading contender in the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential primaries is due to the absence of established political traditions that determine the party's leadership.

Dr Amakye Boateng's remarks suggest that the NPP's lack of political tradition has led to the current governance challenges faced by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.

Meanwhile, Vice President Dr Bawumia has arrived in his hometown of Walewale and is expected to announce his candidature for the NPP's flagbearership contest. However, Dr Amakye Boateng's opinion underscores the need for political leaders to possess the necessary knowledge and competence to govern effectively.
