Why I Am The Lionel Messi In Parliament - Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu

The Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has revealed that some prominent members of the Minority have described him as the 'Lionel Messi' of Parliament because of his vast knowledge and expertise in parliamentary matters.

He made the revelation on Kumasi's OTEC 102.9 FM's Nyansapo morning breakfast show on Monday, February 13, 2023, while discussing his relationship with the minority leaders.

“I serve on the Finance Committee of Parliament with the current Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, and I must admit that I sometimes miss committee meetings because of other equally important parliamentary business. However, when things get tough in the committee, my colleagues always call me to lend my expertise to the ongoing discussion.”

“When I arrived at the committee meeting where I was to discuss a particularly sensitive issue, Dr Ato Forson informed me that the majority had brought their Lionel Messi, who would undoubtedly thwart our plans.”He told the host, Captain Koda

However, he pointed out that both the Minority and the Majority leadership had always promoted consensus to ensure that the work of government continued uninterrupted.
