US-based Ghanaian Lady Pearl said her ex-husband was always worried about her and they were married on and off for years.

Lady Pearl told SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami that his lack of confidence led to many separations and physical abuse. Pearl says she eventually had to give up because of the constant physical and emotional abuse.

"Ego played a big part. He wanted to make everyone happy. He will treat you like a doormat if you agree to be completely humble. About six times he would come back to say sorry when I left. Insecurity was a big factor.

He acted like he didn't want me in public, but he begged to be with me. He probably thought he didn't deserve me, which made him feel bad. He told me about it. "Cheating doesn't always end a marriage," she said.

Lady Pearl talked about some of the things that went wrong in their relationship. "We didn't know each other very well," she said. We just talked on the phone, which is not the same as living together. The problems started the first week we were away.

She also said that some Ghanaian men living in the US can be controlling and blinded by their egos.
