Why NDC Can’t Touch Assin Central – Kennedy Agyapong brags

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, an MP for Assin Central and a candidate for the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says his party is the most popular in the Assin Central constituency of the Central Region.

Since Mr. Kennedy Agyapong took over the seat in 2001, there is no doubt that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is well-established in the Assin Cetral Constituency.

He said before the NPP ran for the seat in the area, the constituency was a no-go area for the NPP. Now, the tide has turned, and it is now a no-go area for the NDC, who used to be the landlords.

The independent politician and businessman thinks that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stayed away because of how well he has done as a lawmaker who wants to see the area grow.

"My district used to be off-limits to all political parties except the NDC. Now, it's a place where the NDC can't go," Mr. Kennedy Agyapong told NET 2 TV.

He said this about what he did for the party in his area: "When I got here, I gave 15 pick-up trucks to the Central Region alone. The first time I gave the pick-ups, we won 8 seats in the Central Region. In 2004, President Kufour put me in charge of his campaign in the Region. There were 19 districts, and we won 16 or 17 of them, he said.
