Woman To Be Executed In Bangladesh For Smuggling Heroin

Lesedi Molapisi, a Botswana woman who is 30 years old and was caught smuggling heroin into Bangladesh, will be put to death today (25 November 2022).

Molapisi's goose was already cooked when she got to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh from South Africa on a Qatar Airways flight that went through Doha.

Molapisi landed on a warm Sunday afternoon wearing a white dress and a medical mask. The date was January 23, 2022.

Molapisi didn't know that her arrival coincided with a warning that the airport was being used to sneak drugs into the country.

Bangladeshi officials said that customs officers and National Security Intelligence officers caught Molapisi in the "Green Channel," which is where passengers who don't have anything to declare go when they arrive.

When Molapisi's bags were looked through, 3.146kg of heroin were found hidden inside. The Botswana citizen was taken into custody right away.

At the time, Sanuwarul Kabir, the deputy commissioner of Customs, was quoted in the Daily Star in Bangladesh as saying, "We have information that cocaine is being smuggled, but officials from the Department of Narcotics Control have mainly confirmed that the seized item is heroin." We'll send the samples to the lab so they can be tested."

From what people in that country say, it sounds like her execution date has come.

According to reports, a young woman from Botswana will be put to death today for trying to smuggle millions of dollars worth of heroin into other countries.

People in Botswana posted videos of Molapisi in happier times, dancing and singing along to music at what looks like a club. The Bulrushes had not yet independently confirmed that Molapisi had been executed.
