Woman arrested for allegedly using rotten ingredients to prepare shito in Koforidua

A 58-year-old woman was arrested in Koforidua, in Ghana's Eastern Region. She is allegedly arrested for making hot black pepper sauce, known as Shito, with rotten ingredients that aren't good for you.

Elizabeth Arthur is said to have been collecting discarded shito ingredients from restaurants in the area, such as rotten tomatoes, onion peels, and ginger peels.

Then, she takes the chunks with the worms and maggots to a mill machine and grinds them together to make her unhealthy product.

People who had been watching her for a long time decided to keep a close eye on her to find out what she does with the mixed ingredients.

To their surprise, they found out that Madam Arthur had been selling the waste as shito to people in Kofofidua at a popular Kenkey joint.

She was taken into custody and taken to the Koforidua Central Police station, where she is helping with the investigation.
