Wontumi missing at Alan Kyerematen’s meeting with NPP regional executives

When potential NPP flagbearer Alan Kyerematen met with the party's regional executives at the NPP's Ashanti regional office, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, also known as Wontumi, was noticeably absent.

A few weeks ago, Regional Chairman Wontumi, who represents Alan Kyerematen's home region, publicly proclaimed his support for Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He might also be seen asking fellow NPP lawmakers to support the VEEP campaign in that video.

According to some political observers, this might spell disaster for the Alan Kyerematen campaign because the Ashanti Region is the party's base and losing it would undermine public confidence in his abilities to rule.

Chairman Wontumi only has one vote in the presidential primary, according to Yaw Buaben Asamoah, a spokesperson for the Alan Kyerematen campaign, and that vote means nothing.

He said that because Alan Cash's home region's chairman, Wontumi, only has one vote, his absence from the meeting had no bearing.

Collins Owusu Amankwah, a former member of parliament for Manhyia North, claims that Chairman Wontumi's campaign for the vice president will not have an impact on Alan Kyerematen's chances of becoming the NPP's standard bearer.
