You Are Not News…Oppong Nkrumah Won’t Waste His Time On You- Journalist To Prof. Frimpong Boateng

Gordon Asare-Bediako, a popular journalist, has spoken out against Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng's allegations that Kojo Oppong Nkrumah worked with some media houses to undermine Ghana's fight against galamsey.

During his appearance on the Bekyere Mu show, which airs every Saturday on Movement TV, Asare-Bediako firmly disputed the former Minister's claims, stating that they were entirely false.

Asare-Bediako also made it clear that no media outlets published articles at Kojo Oppong's behest to sabotage the fight against illegal mining. He went on to say that Prof. Frimpong Boateng was the only one who knew what was bothering him and that Kojo Oppong would not waste his time dealing with him.

Asare-Bediako's remarks were in response to a report filed by Prof. Frimpong Boateng on March 19, 2021. The former Minister alleged that Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah had gathered journalists from both NDC and NPP-affiliated media outlets at the Forest Hotel in Dodowa to plan his downfall.

According to the report, a journalist who attended the meeting tipped off one of Prof. Frimpong Boateng's friends, who then warned him to look out for newspaper headlines in the days that followed.

Asare-Bediako rejected Prof. Frimpong Boateng's assertions, stating that the media would not waste its time on someone who was not newsworthy.

The journalist also pointed out that the media was functioning well and publishing stories, even in the absence of government officials like Prof. Frimpong Boateng.

Asare-Bediako acknowledged that he was aware of the specific program that Prof. Frimpong Boateng was referring to but noted that the former Minister had missed the mark.
