Bawumia as flagbearer will remove akan party tag nana akomea

Nana Akomea, managing director of State Transport Company, argues that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ought to be chosen as the NPP's flagbearer.

In his opinion, a party fighting the label of a "Akan party" needs a candidate who can win over non-Akans before the general election of 2024.

Dr. Bawumia and former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen are nearly neck-and-neck for the NPP presidential nomination.

People contend that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should be the obvious successor because they both ran in the previous flagbearer election.

However, Mr. Akomea stated on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen show on Friday that the NPP would be foolish to pick an Akan flagbearer once more.

He claimed that selecting Dr. Bawumia would be a great chance to dispel the Akan label that the opposition National Democratic Congress had applied to the NPP.

In the general election of 2024, he continued, "Dr. Bawumia gives us the best chance of receiving no Akan votes."

In order to maintain power and defeat the eight, the NPP must put an end to any racial prejudices held by its opponents, the STC boss emphasized.
