The head coach of Tiyumba FC, Kubli, has been arrested after he allegedly beat a female referee, Mohammed Sakina Nasara, to a pulp during a Women’s Division One League game in Tamale.

The incident happened on Saturday, June 17, 2023, during a match between Tiyumba FC and Techiman Ladies FC.

Nasara was officiating the match when she awarded a penalty to Techiman Ladies FC. Kubli was unhappy with the decision and allegedly attacked Nasara, punching and kicking her repeatedly.

Nasara was taken to the Tamale Technical University Hospital, where she is receiving treatment. She is said to be in stable condition, but she has sustained serious injuries.

It’s quite unclear if Kubli has been arrested. But he will facing charges of assault and battery.

This is a serious incident that has no place in football. It is important that the GFA takes swift action to ensure that the safety of referees is protected.
