Elubo residents get new bridge

Dorcas Afo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro constituency of the Western Region, has constructed and commissioned a concrete bridge for the good people of Amamamo, a suburb of Elubo in Jomoro constituency.

Dorcas Afo-Toffey constructed this concrete bridge to replace the existing deadly wooden bridge after visiting the area some months ago.

Performing an official ceremony to commission the bridge for the residents, Dorcas Afo-Toffey commended the contractor for completing the project on time.

She also commended the Chief and his people for supporting the contractor to complete the bridge on time.

"I thank God for this day. Let me commend the contractor, in fact, this contractor is a very hardworking and I love his work. Let me also commend the Chief of Elubo and his people for providing massive support to the contractor to complete the bridge on time", she acknowledged.

She disclosed, "I remember the first time I saw this route and the wooden bridge on it, it was very very deadly and I felt compassion for the residents here. The Chief appealed to me to construct it for them, I also promised him that I would construct it".

The MP expressed her happiness, "When I pledged to construct it, many people said I could not do it but today we have seen the difference, this bridge will last forever because it is concrete one. Today is a great day in my and I'm very excited that I have redeemed my pledge".

She called on the residents of the area to keep bridge clean all the time.

"This bridge is very very since so I will appeal to you to keep it clean always, keep the surroundings also clean", she urged.

She seized the opportunity to pledge to bring more developmental projects to the area (Elubo).

She appealed to the residents to rally behind her in prayers to develop their community.

"This bridge construction is just a tip of iceberg, I will do more at Elubo here so you people should have fait in me. As an opposition MP I'm doing my best, they deliberately took me to court for good two years in order to stop me from performing my duties but I'm doing well and as I have said before, I came to my constituency to serve my people and I will continue to serve my people",

She revealed to the gathering that this bridge at Elubo was the third bridges she had completed and commissioned so far since she became MP for Jomoro.

She said very soon she would commission another concrete bridge in Jomoro Constituency.

Dorcas Afo-Toffey took the opportunity to appeal to the management of Ghana Gas Company to resume works on the construction of the delayed astro turf for the youth of Elubo.

"I have lobbied for an astro turf for the youth of Elubo from Ghana Gas Company but because of politics, the NPP members in Jomoro are fighting the management of Ghana Gas Company not to construct it because I'm an NDC member and to me, this is not we should do politics, Ghana Gas Company is for the state and the youth of Elubo deserve better so I will use this opportunity to appeal to the management of Ghana Gas Company to resume works on the astro turf, I will continue to push for the project to be done", she worried.

Some residents expressed their happiness over the project and pledged to support the MP to achieve her political ambition.

Kesse Kpanyi III of Elubo on his part, commended Dorcas Afo-Toffey for coming to their rescue.

He assured the MP that a watchdog committee would be established to monitor the bridge to be kept clean all the time.
