Former GBC journalist donates hospital equipment to Adusuazo CHPS compound
















A former Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) journalist, James Nyameke Arvo, has handed over hospital equipment to Adusuazo Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.

The items provided to the facility were; an electrical bed, two wheelchairs, a box of bed sheet and among others.

The aim of the kind gesture was to resource the health facility to provide quality healthcare service to the residents in the Adusuazo farming community.

The short colourful presentation ceremony was done at the premises of the Adusuazo Chief palace over the week.

Speaking to the media after the presentation, James Nyameke Arvo whose mother comes from Adusuazo and now lives in US, stated that health need of the residents was very paramount, hence the gesture to assist the facility.

"The reason why I brought these equipment to this health facility is simple, mother comes from this community and I visited this facility during my visit from US to Ghana and observed that this facility needed hospital beds and others and I pledged myself that I would do everything possible to support them whenever I would return to Ghana and today I have honoured my pledge, the health need of my people is very important to me and I'm very happy today my community has witnessed this gesture", he said.



He appealed to the management of the facility to ensure that the equipment were properly taken care of and regularly maintained to protect their lifespan to serve the intended purpose.



"I have told them to manage it properly and I will use this medium to urge the management of the facility to take proper care of the equipment to last longer so that when I return again it will motivate me to do more so they should maintain them", he urged.



He, therefore, urged the residents of Adusuazo to visit hospitals for regular check ups.



"I will tell my people not to sit at home until they get sick before going to hospital, they should go to hospital especially this facility health here regular check ups, they should be concerned with their health needs", he advised.



He seized the opportunity and promised his continuous support for the facility and called on health workers to be passionate about their work while ensuring good relationships with patients.



Nana Whajah Kpanyinli IV, the Chief of Adusuazo who received the equipment on behalf of the health facility, expressed his profound appreciation to James Nyameke Arvo for the equipment.



"We will give thanks to the family of Arvo for nurturing their son to become a responsible and great personality today, we will thank Arvo for thinking about his community by giving us such hospital equipment and in fact, we appreciate the equipment, this is the first time a community in Jomoro has seen an electrical bed so we are very very happy", he said.



He encouraged him to continue to support the community to develop.



He also called on his people to rally behind James Nyameke Arvo in prayers and urged them to be united towards the development of the community.



Moreover, some community members commended James Nyameke Arvo for the kind gesture and prayed to God to bless and protect him and his family in their endeavours.

James Nyameke Arvo and his wife and also children were given rousing welcome at Adusuazo during the presentation.
