Ashanti Region: Angry young people damage property and attack a police station
After one of their own died, some angry young people in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region attacked the Asawase Police station.

According to information Citi News has, the youth say that a young man was picked up by police during a raid on a hideout and was roughed up, which caused him to die.

In reaction, the young people rushed the Asawase police station and, according to reports, threw stones at the building and broke other things inside.

Because the metre was broken, there is no electricity at the police office right now.

Assembly Member for Asawase West Electoral Area Gideon Okine told Citi News, "The Asawase police station is across the street from my house, so I heard a group of men throwing stones into the station."


When you walk into the police office, there are a lot of broken things to see.

"But when some of the police officers here were asked about it, they said it wasn't true. But they are accusing them, which is why they came here to get back at them by throwing so many items, gadgets, and other things that broke metres and other things."
