The former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has endorsed the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that it is a worthwhile and enduring initiative.Koku Anyidoho shared his views with the media during a weekend visit to the Anlo Awomefia Senior High School in his community, highlighting the positive effects of the Free SHS programme.Although there are challenges associated with the policy, he acknowledged that it has substantially contributed to producing more literate citizens in the nation."It's a very excellent programme, and it's helping to produce a large number of literate citizens, which is crucial for the nation's development.
"Therefore, I believe the programme is here to stay, and no government can cancel it," he was quoted as saying by myjoyonline.com.He continued by stating that the Free SHS initiative has opened doors for countless pupils, including members of his own family.Many Ghanaians have benefited from the policy, which has enabled more students to attend college and contribute significantly to the economic development of the country.Koku Anyidoho, who is also from Anyako, was instrumental in the construction of the school's ultra-modern dining/assembly hall and auxiliary facilities, including a modern kitchen. He also lauded the impact of the Free SHS policy on the school, noting that the institution has seen a significant increase in student enrollment since its implementation.
