I was given GHC50 after stealing GHC 50,000 so I reported to the police- Inmate reveals

Inmate at Ewutu Camp Prison said he led the arrest of his fellow thieves after they were given a little portion of the money they stole during their "operation."

Kweku Stephen said that this happened after he and the team had robbed a store of fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC50,000). He was taken aback and upset when he was awarded only GHC50 instead of his rightful part of the loot.

The other players on the team informed him that he deserved exactly what he received because he whined and asked for more.

I was expecting a bundle of GHC50 notes or half the money, but instead I was merely given GHC50. So I made up my mind to show them who's boss.

The other players on the team were arrested after he denounced them to the police, he stated (advertisement).

Stephen has spent the vast portion of his short life involved in criminal activity, which led to his incarceration.

When asked what drove him to this point, he explained that it was his family's negligence that had a major impact.

He claims that he was a young child when his mother passed away. His father, the family's breadwinner and a hunter, had given his mother the funds to have him circumcised. His mother, though, spent the spare change on booze.

His mother got drunk and spent the housekeeping money on alcohol, so when his father came home without any game, he demanded the money for the care of the house. After his father threatened to shoot his mother, he struggled to take the pistol away from him, but in the ensuing gunfight, his mother was killed by accident.

His grandfather posted bail so Stephen's dad could get out of custody after he was imprisoned and held there for 12 years. Stephen was raised by his grandmother while his father was away at work. At first, she was very kind to him, but later she changed, showing her cold side when she insisted he was a naughty child.

She stopped giving him food, forcing Stephen to fend for himself, which he did by turning to a life of crime.
