No plans to construct a Skytrain in Ghan - CEO of GRDA

The CEO of the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA), Mr. Yaw Owusu, said that Ghana has no plans to build a skytrain. Instead, the country is focused on developing the Western and Eastern railway lines for the time being.

He said that building a skytrain was very expensive because a kilometre in the cities was expected to cost $20 million. He also said that Ghana did not have the money for such a project.

Even so, Mr. Owusu said that the skytrain project was named in the budget. He said these things in an exclusive interview in Kumasi on Friday, during a workshop for stakeholders to learn about the new Railway Master Plan.

As part of the government's plan to improve the railway network, GRDA, which is part of the Ministry of Railway Development, has updated the current master plan, which aims to connect all the regional capitals and possible mineral deposits with an efficient railway network.
