Official Launch of the GPPAC Nigerian Network

A important step forward in the region's efforts to achieve lasting peace and conflict prevention was made with the official inauguration of the Nigerian Network by the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC).

Representatives from numerous organisations committed to peacebuilding attended the event, which was sponsored by the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, the regional centre of GPPAC West Africa.

During the launch, the founding members and the national focal office of the Tattaaunawa Roundtable Initiative were honoured for their dedication to advancing peace and aiding in conflict resolution in Nigeria and elsewhere.

Rafiu Lawal, a representative of the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation and the Regional Representative of GPPAC in West Africa, said, "We are thrilled to announce the establishment of the GPPAC Nigerian Network, which brings together a diverse group of organisations and people dedicated to creating a more peaceful world." "We appreciate the tremendous support and inspiration from all parties involved, and we are confident that this group effort will open the door for positive change."

Professor Charles Ukejeh of Obafemi Awolowo University gave the keynote talk at the event. He provided insightful commentary on the importance of peacebuilding and the function of group action in averting armed conflict. His knowledge and captivating speech created a deep impression on the audience, reinvigorating their dedication to the cause of peace.

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, also praised GPPAC for its brilliant idea in creating the Nigerian Network. In her capacity as the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Agnes Aneke was Mrs. Sani-Gwarzo's representative. She emphasised the value of teamwork and communal efforts in creating harmonious communities.

Tattaaunawa Roundtable Initiative, the National Focal Point for GPPAC Nigeria, expressed thanks for the chance to lead peacebuilding projects in the nation. The National Focal Person stated, "We are honoured to be a part of GPPAC's Nigerian Network, and we are committed to working side by side with all stakeholders to promote discussion, understanding, and lasting peace throughout the nation.

The establishment of the GPPAC Nigerian Network is a significant step towards creating a society that is safer and more peaceful. This alliance is anticipated to be essential in preventing armed conflict, reducing violence, and supporting peacebuilding activities throughout Nigeria and West Africa thanks to the combined efforts and experience of all players.

The GPPAC: A global network of civil society organisations called the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) works to avoid armed conflict and advance peace. Through regional centres, GPPAC supports and participates in regional peacebuilding initiatives.
