Sulley Muntari discusses his childhood difficulties, including bedwetting.

Sulley Ali Muntari has spoken up about his childhood problems, including struggling with bedwetting (involuntary urinating while sleeping).
The former Ghana international said that he used to suffer from acute bedwetting, which occurred at any moment, including during daytime naps.

Muntari recalled an incident when he was 11 or 12 years old and visiting his aunt in Kumasi, in which he accidentally wet the mat on which he slept, which greatly upset him emotionally.
"My mother drove me to Abuabo in Kumasi to visit my aunt." I was probably 11 or 12 years old at the time, but I was constantly wetting the bed. It could have happened at any time. We could only sleep in the afternoons, not in the evenings, since then I'd just wet the mat; it wasn't even a bed," Muntari explained in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV.
Muntari's bedwetting problem caused him embarrassment and frustration, and it had a significant impact on his self-esteem. His aunt, unable to cope with the circumstances, eventually sent him back to Konongo, which profoundly saddened him.
"I was devastated when my aunty sent me back to Konongo." "I was brought back because my mother took me some time ago," Muntari explained.
Despite his childhood struggles, Muntari found his breakthrough in football throughout his formative years, and his bedwetting problem eventually subsided.
Muntari had a successful career for Ghana, competing in three World Cups, including the country's first-ever tournament in Germany in 2006.
While playing with Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Portsmouth, the 38-year-old won the Champions League and other domestic trophies in Italy and England.
