Corruption Under Nana Akuffo Addo Has Not Been Settled Yet: NPP MP Reveals

PC Appiah-Ofori, former New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency and anti-corruption campaigner, has expressed dissatisfaction with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo's anti-corruption efforts.

According to him, corrupt officials in the country have not been sufficiently punished.

He explained that those fired for corruption must be prosecuted to deter others.

“As far as I'm concerned, how he led us to believe that Ghana would be successful in the fight against corruption under his rule; He made that promise and we're in Year 6 but not much has been seen," he said.

He told Alfred Ocansey on the 3FM Sunrise Morning Show: "We seem to take the fight against corruption seriously, that's why the OSP was formed, but when the OSP doesn't have the means and powers to prosecute, that's problematic.

"When people engage in corrupt practices and they don't get prosecuted, it becomes to the advantage of all who are interested, but when the prosecution does occur, it sends a signal to those who want to engage in corrupt practices."

Mr Appiah Ofori told Ghanaians to help fight corruption because Ghana has no future if corruption is not curbed.

Ghana needs money and if we allow a few people to steal the country's money, the elderly will leave and the future generation will suffer, he noted.
