'Difficulties Are Part Of Life, But The Problem Is How I Get Out Of Difficulties", Nana Addo Punches

Speaking about the country's current economy in an interview on Obaatanpa Fm today, Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa has said his government is taking measures to stabilize the economy. He acknowledged that the country imported a lot and therefore affected the economy without leaving the Covid-19 pandemic Russia-Ukraine war.

"Even so, I keep saying that difficulties are part of life, but the problem is how I get out of difficulties, which is what I'm thinking about."

The president also spoke about the free SHS policy after being asked if he would consider the opinion of many intellectuals that he should introduce a cut-off point for admitting elementary school exams or JHS graduates into high school. He explained that the opportunity is for all Ghanaians. He further explained that his government must ensure that all Ghanaians benefit from the free SHS policy, but anyone who thinks they can afford paid education can enrol his or her community in the private sector.
He revealed that the United States is the first country to introduce free senior high school education, although their economy was not as stable as our own, they invested in education.

"There's one thing people don't know, the United States is the first country to introduce free senior high school. Although their economy wasn't stable at the time, they invested heavily in education," he revealed.
The President of the Republic also spoke about the IMF bailout after being told that many Ghanaians live in fear as they do not know the social intervention policy that is being given to us or the policies that will be affected.

He explained that Ghana was already under IMF conditions in 2017 but through his hard work somewhere in 2019 we were saved. “If we've been able to initiate programs like Free Senior High, 1D1F, Planting for Food and Jobs, why can't we do well this time? I am confident that these social programs will not be cancelled."
