John Mahama Is Cruel, Unpatriotic, An Has Selective Amnesia - Andrew Atariwini

The former president's attitude and demeanour as a seasoned statesman are being questioned.

This follows the former President's recent remarks that Ghanaians cannot wait for the NDC to bail out Ghanaians from the current economic crisis.

Recall that former President John Dramani Mahama described the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the worst-performing government in Ghana's Fourth Republic.

In a speech at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Advocates' Conference held over the weekend, the former president claimed that the NPP, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, should be held solely responsible for the current economic challenges, with that the country is facing.

“Let me add without any doubt that [the NPP] is the government that has proven to be the greatest political fraud in the history of the Fourth Republic. According to current indices, the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia-NPP government remains the worst in the history of our 4th republic”.

“Ghanaians look up to the NDC to restore hope and reverse the fate of our motherland from the pitiful state we currently find ourselves in. At present, Ghana, our motherland, is in deep crisis. Our economy is in a terrible situation,” he said.

But Andrew Atariwini, a member of the Upper East Region communications team for the NPP, didn't take the former president's words well.

“He should be recognized as a statesman; someone who has been mandated with such privilege before. He should be credited for having gained some experience that he could share with the country at critical times like these to help us build. I think, with all due respect, President Mahama has learned nothing from the presidency.”

"It also appears that former President Mahama was asleep or never paid attention to what was happening worldwide. This shows that as a candidate looking to regain power, you should appreciate the global dynamics and consider how to position your arguments and strategies, how to position this country to make it attractive to you becomes the outside world,” he said.

Mr Atariwini explained that the former President's position that the NPP should be solely responsible for the current economic crisis shows that the President does not value the world economy.

"Anyone who makes that statement is not only engaging in selective amnesia but is cruel and unpatriotic," he stressed.
