Look Into The Camera And Tell Us You Are Not Involved In Galamsey - Murtala Mohammed

Johnnie Hughes was live today, Tuesday 30th August 2022, with three panellists from three different political parties.

PNC's Bernard Mornah, Mpraeso MP Davis Ansah Opoku and Tamale Central MP Murtala Mohammed joined Johnnie to discuss the Oyerepa FM/Odike impasse with the traditional Kumasi council.

The Traditional Council forgave the VHF station yesterday, but there are still unresolved issues regarding Odike. The 2012 presidential candidate remains banned from Kumasi.

According to Murtala Mohammed, many in power support Galamsey, and yet the government insists on fighting Galamsey.

This infuriated Davis Ansah, who noted that he is appalled when he hears from senior officials involved with Galamsey. He mentioned that anyone who tries to do so in his constituency in Mpraeso will face the full wrath of the people.

Murtala Mohammed was unconvinced and boldly urged the Mpraeso MP to face the camera and tell Ghanaians whether he is involved in Galamsey or not. This led Davis to fumble around and ask if the issue affects Galamsey in his constituency or other areas.

Murtala claimed it was a general statement. After some hesitation, Davis Ansah insisted that he was in no way involved with Galamsey and was prepared to take action against anyone doing Galamsey in his constituency without the proper license.

Isn't it interesting that government officials insist they are not involved in Galamsey, yet illegal deals continue to thrive?

Then how does the Galamsey equipment get into the country and how does it get to the quarries? Otumfuo himself had pointed out in a speech months ago that some of those gathered were involved with Galamsey or knew people who were associated with Galamsey.

The Akufo-Addo government claims it spent so much trying to contain the Galamsey, and yet despite all these crackdowns, business continues to thrive.

Who then is responsible for this illegality as all the MPs in the Ashanti region are bragging about not being involved in Galamsey? Who are the parties involved?
