Police Parade Corporal And Three Others For Armed Robbery .

The Rivers State Police Command reports that its agents have arrested a Police Corporal and three members of his gang for allegedly stealing vehicles and committing other crimes in Rumuememe, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.

Yesterday, the State Police Commissioner, Emeka Nwoyi, briefed journalists in Port Harcourt on this matter.

The purported suspects were identified as Corporal by the CP, who was represented by the command's spokesperson, SP Grace Koko-Iringe. Bright Okey Wamadi 'M,' Samuel Charles 'M, and Michael Nwanchukwu 'M, are police officers.

He reported that one more member of the gang escaped.

According to him, the C4i Intelligence Team became suspicious of a Toyota Corolla 2005 model with Reg. No. Rivers BNY 741 FV along Ada George Road, Port Harcourt, on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m., based on intelligence the team had previously received. The team pursued the vehicle and eventually apprehended it.

Detailed investigation revealed that four armed robbers robbed a victim (name withheld) around Apostolic Church Gateway, Port Harcourt, in an attempt to steal his Toyota Corolla 2005 Model with Reg. No. Rivers BNY 741 FV, grey color. The suspects have confessed to the crime, he said.

"The Police Officer, Corporal Bright Okey, has been tried and dismissed in accordance with police internal procedures, and he will be charged with one of his accomplices in court," he said.

Nwoyi told journalists that a case of child trafficking had been reported to the command, and that the investigation had been extended to Omudiaga in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State and Ogbaku in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

He disclosed that the duo of Ndubuisi Egbueri 'M, and Ndubuisi Wosa 'M,' at Omudiaga, and one Chioma Anele 'F at Ogbaku were all arrested, adding that both Ndubuisi Egbueri and Ndubuisi Wosa had all confessed to have receiving one of the babies, which they later handed over to one Hon. Regina Aki 'F at Rukpokwu in Port Harcourt.

"Hon. Regina Aki was also arrested and admitted to communicating with one Favour Amaewhule 'F at Aluu, where the baby was sold in the presence of the baby's biological father, Michael Charles."

"Thereafter, Favour Amaewhule 'F was arrested and admitted to purchasing the baby for N700,000.00, while N350,000.00 was paid to Michael Charles, the father of the baby, and N350,000.00 was paid to Hon. Regina Aki and partners," the police chief said.
However, according to Nwoyi, the infant purchased by Favour Amaewhule has been recovered, and an investigation is underway to recover the other babies received by Chioma Anele.

In the ongoing fight against criminals and criminality, he stated that his administration was committed and relentless in driving criminals out of the state.

He urged vigilance and encouraged citizens to utilize the Police Control Room numbers to report suspicious activities.
