We Are All Corrupt: Stop Pointing Fingers Only At Politicians

Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer in governance at Central University, says corruption is inherent in all Ghanaians.

He noted that politicians are often labelled as corrupt, but not only is corruption a distinctive feature of political figures, many Ghanaians tend to be even more corrupt. “All we know is pointing fingers at politicians.

Some of them are indeed corrupt, but we make them corrupt,” he said. He warned of the consequences of corruption, saying: "When you steal government funds, you have stolen someone's road network.

If you steal from the government, you've stolen someone else's school.
If you're embezzling government funds, you've stolen someone's hospital."

"It's all one of the reasons why we're not moving forward and we're so corrupt that a teacher can take money from a student to give him/her grades.

It's not just in one aspect; we are all corrupt!” he exclaimed. He advised that to curb corruption, laws must be strictly enforced.

"Let's discourage corruption.
Let's make it scary!" he said during the "Kokrokoo" panel on Peace FM.
