Where HIV originated from and the connection between SIV and HIV

Humans with HIV have weakened immune systems as a result of the infectious disease. HIV can lead to AIDS if it is not treated (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).

Having a rudimentary awareness of HIV can help people stay healthy and stop the infection from spreading.

The Facts about HIV's Origin

Chimpanzees from Central Africa acquired human HIV from other chimpanzees.

Simian immunodeficiency virus, or SIV, was thought to have been acquired by humans when they hunted chimpanzees for their flesh and then ingested their contaminated blood.
HIV may have been passed from chimpanzees to humans as early as the eighteenth century, according to scientists.

Over several decades, HIV spread from Africa to the rest of the world.

Reasons for HIV
Since its discovery in the 1980s, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has been the subject of research and discussion, although its origins are still under investigation. It is now well known how, when, and where HIV originally led to sickness in people.
Genetic similarities between HIV and SIV

Lentiviruses include the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). To monkeys and apes, the Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) also has the same effect.

There is evidence connecting HIV with SIV, and there are many similarities between the two viruses. HIV-1 shares a SIV strain with chimpanzees, but HIV-2 shares a SIV strain with sooty mangabeys.

It was determined that chimpanzees were the first hosts of HIV-1 and that the virus had spread from apes to humans in 1999 when a SIV variant (named SIVcpz) was found in a chimpanzee.

The potential for SIV to spread among chimpanzees was investigated. They discovered that two kinds of smaller monkeys, including the sooty mangabey, had been ingested by chimpanzees and that the chimps had acquired two separate strains of SIV from these smaller monkeys.

The two SIV strains merged to become SIVcpz, a novel virus that might spread to other chimpanzees. This is the kind of virus we're talking about, one that can infect humans.
What HIV Transmission Mechanisms from Chimpanzees Led to Human Infection?

According to the "Hunter Theory," chimpanzees may have transferred HIV to humans. In this scenario, SIVcpz was spread from chimpanzees to humans through eating them or by their blood getting into human cuts or wounds while they were out hunting.

The virus then mutated into HIV-1 in people. According to the hunter hypothesis, each time SIV is transmitted from a chimpanzee to a person, it evolves in a little different manner within the human body, which accounts for the diversity of HIV-1 subtypes.
