“Why Should I Keep Large Sum Of Money At The Bank Whiles There Is Same Robbers There” - Flag-bearer Of LPG States Over Minister Cecilia Dapaah’s Brouhaha.

Kofi Akpaloo, founder and flagbearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has stated that the Bank of Ghana's (BoG) stringent measures have discouraged individuals from retaining large sums of money in banks.

On the Wednesday edition of the Dwaso Nsem programme, in response to the theft of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah's money, he stated that bank officials 'intimidate' individuals who come in to withdraw large amounts of cash due to their lengthy cash withdrawal procedures.

In addition, he claimed that some bank officials purportedly provide information about customers with large account balances to robbers.

"The Bank of Ghana has slowed down the currency withdrawal procedure. It frustrates people, so they are forced to retain their money at home. Who does not have money at home in Ghana?Simply, some possess more than others. There must be a review of the stringent procedures for money transactions."

He also stated that a portion of the funds may be funeral contributions and her architect spouse and former ambassador.

Two housekeepers of Madam Dapaah and her husband are allegedly responsible for the larceny of millions of dollars in foreign and local currencies, according to police reports received by the Attorney General's office.

Alfred Tuah Yeboah, Deputy Attorney General, stated that the action was to seek advice and review of the case, not to investigate the former minister's source of wealth.

After receiving over 200 petitions, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) detained and searched the homes of Madam Dapaah in Cantonments and Abelemkpe; she was later released.

After the search, it was revealed that OSP officials discovered "something significant," and the minister's relatives will be interrogated.
