Her Excellent Theresa Aba Kufuor will be Resting On



The final funeral rites of former First Lady, Mrs Theresa Aba Kufuor, will be held on November 18, 2023, at Heroes Park, Kumasi, the family has announced.

A requiem mass will be held for her on November 15, 2023, at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Cantonments, Accra at 6:00 pm.

It will be recalled that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced in October that Mrs. Kufuor would be given a state burial.

The state funeral for Mrs. Theresa Aba Kufuor will take place at the forecourt of the State House on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the former First Lady lived a modest life and was a blessing to the nation when her husband, former President John Kufuor, was Head of State.

Filing past and viewing will be between 7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., while burial mass will be between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

She will be given a private burial.

Thanksgiving service would be held the next day, Sunday, November 19, 2023, at St. Peter’s Basilica, Kumasi, at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Theresa Aba Kufuor is survived by her husband, H.E John Agyekum Kufuor (Former President of the Republic of Ghana), and five children: J. Addo Kufuor, Nana Ama Gyamfi, Saah Kufuor, Agyekum Kufuor, and Owusu Afriyie Kufuor.

Kufuor and his late wife are also blessed with eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Kufuor passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 87.

Theresa Kufuor served as Ghana’s First Lady from 2001 to 2009, when her husband was president.
