Ghanaian businessman and real estate developer Anthony Essien Jnr urges investors to invest in real estate to boost the country's economy

Born Anthony H. Essien Jnr, but affectionately known as Starzee, a Ghanaian-born businessman and philanthropist calls on investors to venture into real estate in Ghana and Africa's development. According to him, investing in real estate in Ghana is the future of economic development and tourism. In his humble opinion, investing in real estate in Ghana is a safe and lucrative investment that any investor can make. Ghana is not an earthquake-prone area.

As a natural lover of asset investment, he made his first real estate investment commitment in 2012. His desire to help others or his family build their dream homes and give back to society and his love of homes was a natural fit. This ignited his passion for real estate development. He credits his late parents Mr Tony Hubert Essien Snr and Ms Cynthia Cecilia Abakah. They took him and his siblings to an acre of land in their hometown Anomabo - Central Region when they were very young.

At the age of 17, he supervised a four-bedroom extension project at their residence in Community 8, Tema. His passion for real estate made him quit his job as a Quality Control assistant at Tropical Cable and Conductor Limited to chase his dreams. He also took inspiration from a wealthy Chinese man called Mr Low who happened to be his landlord and a Godfather in Malaysia where he used to reside based on his humility and selfless spirit as a developer in Asia.

The executive chairman of Dartwood Integral Developers - Mr Kusimo Adeola and Mr & Mrs Joseph Ayo Oyeyinke motivated him to venture into real estate. He invested in Oakview Estate, a gated community developed by Dartwood. His Majesty Abass Giwa of Giwa Ventures, the late paramount chief of Tema Nii Adjei Kraku II and the late Chief of Katamanso Nii Afotey-Agbo passionately advised him to invest more in lands as purchasing lands is a very lucrative business. Big credit to his uncle and President of the Forex Bureau Association of Ghana Mr K.T Dadzie who also encouraged him to use his passion for real estate to build a better Ghana and Africa. Anthony praised his uncle for helping him purchase his first piece of land at Lashibi when he started land sales.

Anthony hails from Anomabo in Central Ghana but was born and raised in Tema. He is the chairman & CEO of GlenCourt Estate Development; a company that specializes in purchasing homes in gated communities, investing in land, and expanding into commercial, residential and industrial real estate.

Anthony is a natural-born leader who pays attention to details, finds a solution to problems, is a team player, self-motivated, honest, loyal, reliable, has a can-do attitude and is tenacious. He studied Multimedia Engineering and specialized in Web Authoring at NIIT, Marine Engineering at Regional Maritime University, and International Business Management at University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia.
