Assemblyman, 3 others arrested for possessing over 104 bags of suspected illegal substances

On January 5, 2023, a police intelligence operation led to the arrest of four people at Lolonya near Sege in the Greater Accra region for illegally having more than 104 bags of substances thought to be drugs.

The four suspects, Ntow Prince, Felix Owusu, Jery Quartey, and Daitey Mashack, were caught while putting sacks of the compressed plant materials into a boat at Sege's seaside.

During the arrest, suspect Daitey Mashack, who is the Assemblyman for the area, tried to pay GH 20,000.00 to the officers who were arresting him.

The drug-filled truck and the money that was meant to be a bribe have been taken away by the Regional Police Headquarters.

The four suspects were then brought before the Ashaiman Circuit Court on Friday, January 6, 2023. They were ordered to be kept in police custody until their next court date on January 23, 2023.

In a statement released on January 7, the Police said, "We would like to thank the Police team for their hard work and dedication to the service of our dear country."
