Kisa Gbekle Sets the Record Straight: "I Was Not a Sex Worker”

Ghanaian entertainer Kisa Gbekle has denied allegations that she engaged in sex work during her early years. In a recent radio interview, Gbekle clarified that she became sexually active at 16, but was not receiving payment for sex. She explained that her partner at the time was a wealthy teenager around her age, not an older man paying for her services.

Gbekle expressed frustration that her comments were taken out of context and sensationalized by various media outlets. She noted she has had to reduce the amount of humor and jokes during interviews to avoid further misrepresentation. The actress strongly refuted claims that she mocked rape victims, offering an apology to any woman offended by her remarks regarding enjoying early sexual experiences that legally constituted statutory rape. Gbekle maintained she was reminiscing about consensual activity as a naive minor unaware she was being exploited, not making light of nonconsensual assault. She hopes those disturbed by her words can find it in their hearts to forgive her.
