Koforidua: Tragic Incident as Boyfriend Allegedly Kills Girlfriend

In a shocking turn of events, a young woman in her twenties was tragically killed by her boyfriend in Trom, a suburb of the New Juaben South Municipality in the Eastern region. The horrifying incident took place on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Trom Junction-5.

The victim had originally hailed from Koforidua-Betom but had moved to Trom approximately a year ago in an attempt to hide from her boyfriend. She had taken this step after he had allegedly threatened her when she decided to end their relationship.

According to witnesses who shared the same house, on the fateful day, the victim encountered the suspect outside the house and brought him into her room while a naming ceremony was taking place in the house. It was in her room that the suspect launched a vicious attack, forcefully gagging her with a piece of cloth before proceeding to stab and slit her throat.

After committing this heinous act, the suspect managed to escape by scaling over a wall. He disposed of the blood-stained knife and later turned himself in to the police that evening. The chilling detail of his attire, a red shirt with the words "Rest In Peace" inscribed on the back, sent shivers down the spines of those who saw him.

The police promptly visited the crime scene and, after taking inventory, retrieved the victim's body, which was found lying in a pool of blood. The body was then transported to the morgue for further examination.

In an attempt to find the murder weapon, the police brought the suspect back to the crime scene on Sunday afternoon, but their search proved fruitless. As tensions rose, with angry youth gathering and threatening to take matters into their own hands, the police swiftly whisked the suspect away in a waiting taxi to prevent any further violence.
