Notorious Ex-CID Officer Evades Arrest Once More Following Another Shootout With Police

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed that notorious former CID officer Jaison Muvhevhi is still on the run. He was able to avoid being caught by the police again on Saturday. Muvhevhi again got away from the police after another shootout. He was able to get away from the shooting in the Chiduku area near Rusape.

There were rumors that the former CID officer was caught on Saturday and is now in police custody.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, a spokesman for the national police, said that the search for the suspect is still going on.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told state media that Muvhevhi was found in the Chiduku area near Rusape yesterday.

When the ex-CID officer realized he was trapped, he is said to have gotten into a fierce shootout with the police.

After the intense gun battle with the police, Muvhevhi decided to give up and run away on foot. He left his Toyota Allion vehicle behind.

He is said to have left a gun in the abandoned car and run away into the nearby mountains.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a short way about the situation,

"He hasn't been caught yet. The suspect ran away, leaving behind his car and the gun he had stolen from the police. He was in the city of Chiduku. He has not been arrested, which is not true."
The police spokesperson didn't say anything else about the alleged shootout between Muvhevhi and the police.

Muvhevhi, who has been called armed and dangerous, is said to have shot and killed a Johanne Masowe sect prophet named Crispen Mubvana at his shrine on Friday.

After killing the prophet, the former police officer is said to have shot and killed the Officer-in-Charge of the Wedza Police Station and seriously hurt another officer who had come to the scene to look into what happened. Reports say that the injured police officer is in a very bad way and fighting for his life at a hospital nearby.

Muvhevhi, who seems to have been on a killing spree, then drove to Mukamba Business Centre, where he allegedly shot and killed another man before driving away.
