Police Inspector Pleads Not Guilty to Shocking Murder of Girlfriend

Ahmed Twumasi, a police inspector stationed in Manhyia, who allegedly shot his girlfriend in a fit of anger, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder. During the committal proceedings at the court, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who reportedly shot 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah near her house in the Ashanti Region, firmly denied the accusations brought against him.

While Twumasi declined to answer any questions without his lawyer present, he did state that he would call witnesses as necessary. The state attorney presented various evidence during the committal process, including the alleged murder weapon, Twumasi's service pistol, and CCTV footage capturing the incident. These pieces of evidence were used to outline Twumasi's alleged involvement in the crime.

As a result of the proceedings, the Asokore Mampong district court has decided to transfer the case to the high court, where the trial is set to commence on July 13, 2023, at 10 am. From this point forward, the high court will be responsible for overseeing the trial.

The victim, Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maa Adwoa, was tragically killed by her boyfriend, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, on April 20, 2023. Since the incident occurred, the case has been under investigation, and the accused has been held in police custody awaiting trial. However, during the recent hearing, Twumasi shocked both the court and the victim's family by denying the charges brought against him.

The family of Victoria Dapaah expressed their deep outrage over the incident and demanded justice for their daughter. They had hoped that the accused would plead guilty, allowing the trial to proceed without further delays.

This case has captured significant public attention, with many expressing their concern and anger over the rising instances of violence against women. The court has assured the public that justice will be served and that the accused will receive a fair trial.

The case has been adjourned until the next hearing, and Twumasi will remain in police custody until then. While the victim's family is disappointed with the outcome of the proceedings thus far, they remain hopeful for a positive resolution in the future.
