Pregnant Woman Dies After Falling Into A Well In Takoradi

A woman who was five months pregnant and fell into a well in Sekondi Takoradi in Ghana's Western Region has been found dead.

The pregnant woman, whose name is Efua Amoaba, is said to have gone to the well with her three children to get water when the accident happened.

Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator James Obeng Jnr., who was called to the scene, said that the children, who did not know what had happened, went home alone and did not raise the alarm.

But her body was found by people who lived in the area and went to the well to get water to wash.

"According to what we know so far, the woman left her house on December 20 to go to the well. She wasn't found until Wednesday, when people noticed that someone was floating in the well. "When our people went to the scene and got the body, they found out that the woman was actually pregnant," he said.

People from the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), and the police have come to shut off the well.

Since then, the police have found the body and put it in the Effia Nkwanta mortuary while they start their investigation.

At the moment, the well has been closed off, and residents are not allowed to go there.
