Stop Treating Pastors Like Celebrities, They Don't Have The Holy Spirit More Than Others - Rev. Father

In a friendly and heartfelt manner, Reverend Father Oluoma Chinenye John, affectionately known as Fada Oluoma, addressed his congregation in the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja about the issue of celebrity status within modern-day Christianity. He emphasized the need to stop treating pastors as celebrities and reminded his listeners that pastors do not possess a greater connection to the Holy Spirit than other church members.

Expanding on his point, Fada Oluoma expressed concern about the societal perception that being a pastor or a priest automatically grants a special social status, leading some religious leaders to view themselves as celebrities. He acknowledged that it is the church members themselves who often elevate pastors to this level, but this is due to their human tendencies and worldly desires. Fada Oluoma drew a parallel with a biblical incident in John chapter 6, where people attempted to turn Jesus into a celebrity, prompting Him to withdraw from the spotlight. In the same vein, Fada Oluoma urged pastors to resist the temptation of succumbing to celebrity status.

In a video message, Fada Oluoma passionately appealed to the Christians, stating, "Kindly refrain from treating pastors like celebrities. They do not possess a greater connection to the Holy Spirit than others. Let's put an end to this nonsensical behavior. The Holy Spirit present within a gatekeeper is the same as the one in a pastor; they merely serve different functions. When they tried to turn Jesus into a celebrity in John 6, did He not retreat? Unfortunately, many of us pastors lack the spiritual fortitude to do the same. I implore you, please assist us by ceasing to treat us like celebrities."

In conclusion, Fada Oluoma's message underscores the importance of dispelling the notion of celebrity status within the pastoral role. He emphasizes that all believers, regardless of their position in the church, share an equal connection to the Holy Spirit. By refraining from elevating pastors to celebrity status, Fada Oluoma hopes to foster a more spiritually grounded and humble approach to religious leadership.
