Christianity almost got rid of polygamy as a way to get married in Africa hundreds of years ago, but it seems to be coming back slowly.

After getting married to two women on the same day in Cross River state, Nigeria, a man named Nkanu quickly became a hit on the Internet.

Nkanu got married to both Mary and Jennet on the same day in Cross River state's Bazohure community, which is in the Abi Local Government Area.

Reports say that the wedding that went viral took place at Bazohure Playground on Saturday.

Pictures of the bride and groom have quickly become popular on social media, and they get a lot of likes and comments as a result.

Some of the comments on the trending pictures say that polygamy isn't bad, but that the man should have married both women on different days out of respect for their families.

They say it's the biggest insult and that only a desperate person would accept it.

Even if it is "escorting," the fact that the man wouldn't let them get married separately shows that he isn't financially or emotionally stable enough to have two women in his life.
