Bawumia Not The Bogus Strategist’ I Attacked; My Target Was A Certain MP - Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, member of parliament for Assin Central and presidential candidate candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has clarified the controversy surrounding his recent remarks on the management of the Ghanaian cedi, in which he criticised a certain "bogus strategist."

Mr. Agyapong explained in an interview with Home Radio on Monday, July 24, that his comments were not directed at Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, but rather at a specific member of parliament who questioned the government's strategic approach.

During the interview, Mr. Agyapong referenced an incident in which a member of parliament stated that Ghana would not seek assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), only for the country to later seek assistance from the IMF. Mr. Agyapong questioned the MP's credibility as a strategist as a result.

In addition, the fiery politician criticised certain media outlets for sensationalising news and failing to provide the complete context of his statements.

His intention was to advise against divisive campaigning within the party and to encourage unity among its members, he clarified.

In addition, Mr. Agyapong discussed his political experiences, expressing his dissatisfaction with former benefactors who have become his adversaries.
