Vitus Yuordong, an officer with the Bono Regional Forestry Commission who went missing in the municipality of Sunyani, was located at a garbage dump in Nkawkaw-Asona in the Eastern Region.
A Zoomlion truck driver and his partner discovered him with his legs bound and shackled on Monday.
Mr. Yourdong told Adom News that he was seized by suspected illegal chainsaw operators during an operation in the Asukesse forest reserve in Sunyani.
This occurred after he excused his coworkers to answer nature's call on July 2, 2023, where he was held, assaulted multiple times, and then discarded unconscious at the Nkawkaw Asona garbage dump.
The Zoomlion lorry driver, Saza Agbotiyao, corroborated Mr. Youdong's account of the condition he was discovered in.
The victim was released from the handcuffs per the Regional Police Commander's instructions and has since been transported to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital for medical care.
Nii Kwei Kussanchin, the district forest manager of Mpraeso, has visited the Nkawkaw Central Police Station to assess the situation.
On Sunday, July 2, 2023, Mr. Yuordong and a few associates were dispatched to the Daadom section of the Asukese Forest reserve within the Sunyani Municipality to arrest illegal chainsaw operators.
