I Have Unfinished Business In Parliament - Mrs Barbara Asher Ayisi

Mrs. Barbara Asher Ayisi, the one-time Member of Parliament (MP) for the Cape Coast North constituency, is making a reappearance by submitting her nomination forms to run for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming election.

"I am returning to complete my unfinished business as a Member of Parliament (MP), and I can only rely on you, my beloved delegates. You were by my side in 2016 when I won the seat for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), you were by my side in 2020 when I lost the seat, and you are by my side in 2023 as I prepare for battle" Mrs. Asher Ayisi reminded the delegates of this fact.

Mrs. Asher Ayisi emphasised, "I didn't want to retire when I lost the election, but I do want to retire or leave politics gracefully."

Kwamena Mintah Nyarku, a lawmaker for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated Barbara Asher Ayisi, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), by a margin of 1,330 votes in the 2020 election for Cape Coast North.

"Considering the dynamics of the Cape Coast North constituency, the majority of my votes in 2016 came from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and I received approximately 3,000 votes from UCC in 2020, however, due to the pandemic, the majority of students were not in school," Mrs. Asher Ayisi explained.

According to her, "No other first-term member of Congress worked as hard as I did, but I'm also the first to have lost the election."

Mrs. Asher Ayisi outlined her vision for the Cape Coast North constituency, which included infrastructure development, agriculture, sports, arts, and culture, employment creation through entrepreneurial training, and a promise to make Cape Coast North a better place for youth.
