Ken Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) representative for Assin Central, has stated that his recent remarks about the "poor" administration of the cedi were not directed at Vice President Mahamudu Bawumi.

Agyapong told NPP delegates, "You call yourself a strategist, but when we took power the dollar was GHC4 and today it is GHC12, yet you call yourself a strategist." "In March 2022, I had $40 million in cedi equivalent, but by August 2022, it was worth only $16 million,"

According to him, the strategist referred to in his tirade was a particular lawmaker.

"The truth stings... You are the victim, I am educating you, and you believe I am striking back? Clearly, they are not acting fairly. Agyapong told Home Radio in the Upper West Region, "I did not hit the Vice President, but I did hit one MP because he said, 'We don't want somebody who will come and say that they have done this and that for the party and Ghana; we want a strategist.'"

Honour for Bawumia

"I have the utmost respect for Vice President Bawumia and his strategic thinking," said Agyapong, who is also seeking the party's nomination for president. He has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to strategize effectively for the benefit of the party and the nation as a whole.

Agyapong did not identify the lawmaker in the interview, but he stated that the lawmaker was in Parliament "shouting" that Ghana was not going to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but "within two hours, the country was there."

Additionally, the unconventional politician urged the media to avoid sensationalism in their reporting.

"Those whom I have aided to become who they are today are the ones who are opposed to me. I bought them vehicles, gave them money, and supported their campaigns for office, but now they are my greatest adversaries. However, I simply gaze at them and pray, "Lord, forgive them for their stomachs," as Agyapong stated.
