PAC Orders COCOBOD To Submit Audit Report On Cocoa Roads Within 2 Weeks

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has demanded that the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) submit its audit report on the cocoa roads project within two weeks, or face repercussions.

Wednesday was when COCOBOD management appeared before the Committee to respond to infractions detailed in the Auditor General's Report.

Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minority Chief Whip and Adaklu MP, had requested the directive.

Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the chief executive officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, asserted that the report had already been submitted to Parliament.

However, verifications demonstrated that this was not the case; thus the committee's directive.

James Klutse Avedzie, chairman of the committee, also directed that sanctions be administered if necessary.

Despite intense pressure from the Minority in Parliament and former President John Mahama, Mr. Aidoo stated in 2020 that the audit report on the construction of cocoa roads in certain regions of the country cannot be made public.

He stated that the report's purpose was to aid in the management of the projects and emphasised that those interested must complete the application procedure.

However, he emphasised that the contracts awarded by the Mahama administration did not provide value for money to Ghanaians.
