Solomon Owusu Slams Bawumia

Solomon Owusu, a member of the Communications Team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), asserts that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's vision for Ghana, which differs from that of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP, lead to the country's economic crisis and the need for a bailout from the IMF.

As part of his campaign tour, the Vice President has stated that his vision differs from that of the incumbent President and the ruling party.

In an interview , Solomon Owusu asserts that the Vice President who remains the Head of the Economic Management Team and the Chair of the Police Council's unequivocal declaration that he has his own vision can be safely cited as the reason why the economy was brought to its knees, forcing the government to seek IMF assistance.

Mr. Owusu questioned the Vice President as to whether or not, in his role as leader of the Economic Management Team, he has managed the economy in accordance with his vision, of which he is proud.

The politician and businessman urged NPP delegates not to make the error of voting for the Vice President in the upcoming NPP primaries, as his vision differs from that of the incumbent President and the NPP, as he claims.

Mr. Owusu remarked that, according to the then-candidate Akufo-Addo, the Vice President was appointed to manage the economy; therefore, all economic matters have been delegated to the Vice President.

"This indicates that since 2017, the Ghanaian economy has been managed in accordance with the vice president's vision, and it is this vision that has led the country to the IMF. Therefore, Ghanaians are not interested in a strategy that leads a nation to the IMF and its conditions, which include Domestic Debt Exchange.

The IMF's own document on Ghana's Extended Credit Facility named the Vice President as someone who agreed to all the conditions as the Head of Economic Management, along with his Chief Campaign Strategist, Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta.
