There’s A Need To Revisit Structure, Nature Of Taxes - Ken Ofori-Atta

In a crucial conference with the business community prior to the mid-year budget review, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, discussed urgent fiscal concerns.

The minister began by acknowledging the difficulties the government has faced in recent years, specifically in regards to funding decisions.

"To make a U-turn after the government declared that it was not going to the fund and to end up doing it is not easy," the minister said, highlighting the complexity of implementing financial measures.

The minister emphasised that despite the apparent inconsistency of some decisions, they were ultimately made in response to the greater requirements of the community as a whole.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister acknowledged that the country's budget deficit has been managed inefficiently and with cause for concern.

"Are there many activities? Yes, all of these things and inefficiencies, as well as the manner in which we've operated, the deficit of the republic's supremacy is always intriguing, as is the question, "How do we change that?"

He specifically brought up the issue of tax compliance among citizens.

The Finance Minister raised concerns about tax evasion and stated, "Yes, the structure and nature of the taxes must be reexamined to a certain degree when religious people sit in the front seat of the church and no one wants to pay taxes."

The minister acknowledged that reevaluating the structure and nature of taxes was necessary to increase public compliance.
