UNIFIL Ghana Battalion 89 HQ Unveils A New H.E Ali Samih Jaafar Multi-Purpose Court - In Labanon

Maj Gen Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, and leader of medal day delegation to Lebanon, commissioned a 40-31 Multi-purpose Sports Complex at the Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Headquarters (HQ), 5-66 on 13 July 2023.The Ali Samih Jaafar Multipurpose Court was financed and constructed by HE Ali Samih Jaafar, Honorary Consul of Ghana to Lebanon.

The sports complex with volleyball, basketball, handball, and long tennis courts was built as a recreation facility for the soldiers' welfare.In his opening remarks, the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lt Col John Yaw Kwarteng, stated that over the years, battalions have operated in a stressful environment without a recreational facility, which has prevented them from enhancing their health and fitness.

He thanked the sponsor, HE Ali Samih Jaafar, for the resources that made the multipurpose complex a reality, affirming that the facility will be well-maintained to become an invaluable asset not only for GHANBATT 89, but also for subsequent Battalions.The Ali Samih Jaafar Multipurpose Court was financed and constructed by HE Ali Samih Jaafar, Honorary Consul of Ghana to Lebanon.
