Unexplained Wealth Should Be Criminalized - Haruna Iddrisu

Haruna Iddirsu, member of parliament (MP) for Tamale South, has proposed criminalising anomalous wealth in Ghana.

"I have argued that Ghana should undoubtedly consider revising our laws, criminalising unexplained wealth, and shifting the burden of proof for unexplained wealth to the accused.

"In the fight against corruption and white-collar graft, such as in the Cecilia Dapaah case, a situation may be immoral but not necessarily unlawful or illegal. But where does the law's authority come from?

His remarks follow the seizure of millions of dollars in local and foreign currency belonging to Cecilia Abena Dapah, the former minister of sanitation and water resources.
