The district-level elections in several areas of the Ashanti and Eastern regions of Ghana have been suspended, according to the election commission of the country.
The Electoral Commission claims that certain technical difficulties that the impacted areas faced led to their conclusion.
The exercise has been rescheduled until Thursday, December 21, 2023, according to the EC.
An EC statement said, "The Commission wishes to inform the General Public that the District Level Elections in some Electoral Areas in the Ashanti and Eastern regions have been rescheduled to Thursday, 21st December 2023 due to a number of technical challenges."
The statement expressed regret for any difficulty caused and guaranteed that the elections will take place as planned in the impacted districts.
For the inconveniences these Electoral Areas' people have experienced, we sincerely apologize. The statement guaranteed, "We assure the residents of the affected areas that the District Level Elections will be held."
